European executive pushes for EU prosecutor - U Talking to Me? debate

With hundreds of millions of euros being deviated through fraud or irregularities, EU expenses should be more controlled or at least spent more effectively. Since members states are not always leading controls properly, the EU Budget Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva explained that "we need a European prosecutor." But the proposal has already been watered down by the EU member states.

Kristalina Georgieva is convinced that the handling of EU money has changed with the arrival of the economic crisis. Pressure "to make the best use of EU money" rose, the Vice-president of the European Commission said during the weekly Euranet Plus debate "U Talking to Me?"
